VP Yemi Osibanjor Makes First Major Promise To Nigerians

Boko Haram Insurgency Will Come To End – Osinbajo  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has visited Yola, the Adamawa state capital as a part of his working trip to Boko Haram-ravaged states.

The vice president planned to visit the state on July 1, after visiting Maiduguri, Borno but was unable to do so due to heavy rains. During the meeting with Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Osinbajo vowed that the Boko Haram uprising will come to an end.

Osinbajo praised the Adamawa government for overseeing the wellbeing of the refugees in the state.

His words:
Today @MBuhari requested that I convey FG's sympathies to our displaced brothers & sisters in Borno & Adamawa.  Plight of many of our own like little Aisha Ibrahim reinforces our resolve to stamp out the scourge of terrorism. Clearly the state government is doing an incredible job. NEMA is also doing an excellent job. The next phase is resettling the displaced persons in their communities in their homes, that is the most important thing in the next stage, and that is why I am here to understand the financial implication of that project; what are the material requirements, what the logistics will be, etc. That is exactly what we are trying to work out. We are trying to see for ourselves how and what needs to be done in this next phase.” The vice president stated that the federal government was committed to providing the return of the Boko Haram to their homes.“I have seen for myself and I have also had extensive discussions with stakeholders and I think I have a fair idea of what needs to be done. I am still going to come back as discussions are ongoing; we are not done yet, lots of plans are required. Boko Haram have wracked serious problems across the nation, particularly in the north eastern region. The APC is seriously concerned about mass employment. The government is committed about the common man.

On his own turn, Muhammad Jibrilla, Adamawa governor, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof Osinbajo. He hoped the federal government will in no distance future reinstate the affected Boko Haram victims.
