Documents Reveal Saraki's Dirty Past

Fresh documents discovered by Sahara Reporters have revealed that the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, once played a role in the bankruptcy that rocked Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN).

The ex-governor of Kwara state who has been in the news in recent weeks for boycotting the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to collude with some of his loyalists and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to emerge as the Senate president unopposed.


The documents made public by Sahara Reporters have now revealed that Saraki alongside his late father, Olusola Saraki, and his sister, Gbemi Saraki, went on a stealing spree that led to the collapse of SGBN, a Nigerian affiliate of the multinational bank.

The office of the Inspector General of police, through the documents, detailed a scheme by the siblings Bukola and Gbemi Saraki, along with Tokunbo Salami, Jude Iluyomade, and Mohammed Bashir to run down the bank at the time.
