Word on the street is rapper/ label executive MI Abaga and video director, Kemi Adetiba aren’t on speaking terms at present. But both parties are keeping mum about the situation as it is, refusing to comment or confirm the rift or the non-existence of it.
The bone of contention is the video for Bullion Van, which was reportedly left in the control of Adetiba sometime in January, 2015. Reports say the former Radio/ TV host turned director shot a clip that wasn’t acceptable to the rapper. This informed Abaga’s decision to hire another director in the person of Mex.
A Naij.com correspondent put a call across to Chocolate City Music for clarity but was told, however, that all is fine. “I might not be able to comment on this at the moment as there’s only a sketchy detail on this. But then there’s nothing going on between both parties,” she said.
Further enquiries to speak to another source at the label didn’t say anything different as the staff responded saying: “It’s fine. There’s actually nothing happening. It’s just about options. We are all cool,” he finished.
It is left to be seen what the outcome of this will be.
