As reported by Reuters, Charamsa spoke to an Italian and Polish newspaper that he was gay and had a boyfriend.
"I have to say who I am. I am a gay priest. I am a happy and proud gay priest,”
Charamsa, who was fired a day before the international meeting of Catholic bishops on family issues, organised his own conference at the Vatican, alongside his gay partner Edouard.
"I
ask the pope to be strong and to remember us, homosexuals, lesbians,
transsexuals and bisexuals as children of the Church and members of
humanity," he continued.
He has since relocated to Rome following his dismissal.
