There was chaos in Kemta, Idi Aba area of Abeokuta, Ogun state when a passenger who was on his way to buy herbal medicine gave up the ghost.
According to a report published on Daily Post, a certain Michael Hogan lost his life in a taxi on his way to an herbal vendor. It was gathered that the taxi driver got to know about the unfortunate incident when Hogan could not get down from the vehicle on getting to his destination.
The alarm raised by the driver drew the attention of those around to the scene. According to an eyewitness, the driver attempted to flee the scene of the tragedy but was encouraged by people around to report the incident to the Kemta-Idi Aba divisional police station, which he did.
However, on arrival at the police station, the driver was detained while the officers had to contend with the large crowd that trooped to the station so as to see both the driver and corpse. Addressing newsmen on the development, the state police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the taxi driver at about 7:45am, discovered that a passenger, died in his car at Iyana Mortuary area,.
He however attested that the taxi driver reported the case at the Police station. Adejobi stated that the family of the deceased was contacted shortly after the incident and they claimed Hogan had been ill for a long time. He said: “The family said Hogan left home early in the morning for Abeokuta to collect herbal remedies not knowing that would be his end.
“The police will soon release the corpse to the family for burial as requested after due process must have been followed”.
