Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has asked all indigenes of the state who are on scholarship abroad to return to Nigeria to continue their scholarship programmes in any University in the country as the state is currently facing financial crisis and can’t continue to sponsor them.

This directive is contained in a letter sent out to the students early this month. The affected students are those that are not in final year as all final year students will be allowed to complete their programmes at their various universities.

(1.) GO- SLOW
Although the word ‘go-slow’ appears in the dictionary, it is wrongly used by many Nigerians. The word go-slow means a form of industrial action in which work or progress is deliberately delayed or slowed down. It does not mean congested traffic, so it is wrong to use it in that way.

(2.) INSTALMENTALLY
There is no such word in the English dictionary, this word exists only in the Nigerian edition dictionary (if such a book exists). The correct thing to say is ‘in installments’

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe days ago marked his 92nd birthday at a $1.1 million party organised by his supporters.

This party has however drawn criticism from his opponents who said the celebrations in the drought-stricken country was an affront to his countrymen. Mr Mugabe, Africa's oldest leader, turned 92 on February 21 and thousands of his party supporters gathered to pay tribute to the country's only leader since independence from Britain in 1980. He has shown no intention of stepping down.

A 26-year-old woman, Queeny Akuffo, has been charged to court for raping another woman in Ghana. Her 22-year-old victim told the court on Wednesday that she carried out chores for the accused and on the day that the incident occurred, she was invited by the accused to cook for her.

She is said to have sedated Amoakwa, who is her neighbour and raped her with an artificial penis,

otherwise called a dildo at Ablekuma in the Ga West District of Greater Accra.
