U2’s Bono has become the world’s richest pop star after raking in over $1 billion from his Facebook shares. The Beautiful Day hitmaker bought a 2.3 per cent share in the social media network for £56 million in 2009 with the investment group that he co-founded, Elevation Partners. Today that share is worth a whopping £940 million, according to reports. 

 That means that Bono’s venture has earned him more in the last six years than the whole of his incredible music career.

10 Boko Haram Members Sentenced To Death

Ten members of the Islamist militant group Boko Haram were sentenced to death in Chad on Thursday, August 27. The BBC reports that after a 3-day trial the 10 were found guilty of terrorism by a court in the capital N’Djamena.

N’Djamena, which is situated less than 100 kilometres from the Nigerian border, was hit by a series of suicide bombings in June and July, 2015.

Kaduna Helicopter Crash: More Details Obtained

More details have emerged about the tragedy in Kaduna in which a military helicopter with seven people on board crashed on Saturday, August 29.  The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) aircraft, which was heading to Abuja, crashed 10 minutes after take-off in the morning.

According to The Nation, a military source disclosed: “Being a military crash, the details will not be released until a technical appraisal is done. The families of those who died had been contacted.” However, a witness who observed the development narrated:

According to a document, which was obtained from the Presidency on Saturday, the deal, which is now a subject of investigation, was allegedly carried out by Jonathan; his Chief Security Officer, Mr. Gordon Obuah; and former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Nollywood legend, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as ”Osuofia,” on Friday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to formulate favourable policies for the Nigerian movie industry that would enable the industry contribute to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The veteran actor who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, said Nollywood is capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic development effectively if the industry is given all the necessary support it requires by government.

38 virgins killed in bus crash on their way to 'topless' dance festival for King of Swaziland.

Dozens of  virgin girls and young women were killed as they traveled to the traditional festival where the King of Swaziland is know to pick a new bride from thousands of topless, dancing virgins.
 The tragic accident, which happened along the MR3 Highway, Mahhala, involved two trucks, which were ferrying maidens and a sedan.

According to Times of Swaziland, at least 38 of them died when the open-topped truck collided with another vehicle, before being hit by a second truck as it travelled along a motorway between the Swazi cities of Mbabane and Manzini on Friday afternoon.

The Sango Koso is the highest and the head of all the Sangos in the world. He is equivalent to a king. In Oyo Empire, it believes that if there is no Sango, there is no Alaafin, if there is no Alaafin there is no Oyo.  Each successive Alaafin can see other Sangos except Sango Koso. It is said that the Alaafin cannot bow for anyone king including Sango Koso and Sango Koso cannot bow for Alaafin. On the arrival of this Sango, the Alaafin by tradition is expected to retire to his chamber as the two cannot reign at the same time.

Over the weekend, Wiz Khalifa was handcuffed by police at , allegedly for refusing to dismount the same sort of two-wheeled self-balancing electric scooter.
